OBS

A traditional terminal defense system oriented toward low-altitude defense of ICBMs. Both fixed and transportable versions have been considered. The system uses a phased-array radar and a high-acceleration, nuclear-armed interceptor (either Sprint or a new interceptor called Sentry). This system was studied in the late 1970s and early 1980s, and component development is under way. Essentially the same system was known as the Low-Altitude Defense System (LoADS) in the late 1970s.
