L'espace épidural (ou péridural). C'est un espace de glissement compris entre la dure-mère et les parois osseuses du canal vertébral. Il contient de la graisse en quantité variable, des vaisseaux, notamment des plexus veineux (plexus veineux intrarachidiens très développés dans l'espace épidural antérieur), des nerfs (nerf sinuvertébral), des ligaments (ligament longitudinal postérieur, ligaments jaunes).
