Le Programme de développement des pêches du sud-est du Nouveau-Brunswick, créé en vertu de la Loi sur le ministère de l'Expansion économique régionale, est doté d'un budget de 2,7 millions de dollars pour l'expansion des pêches sur une période de cinq ans. En 1984-1985, 500 000 $ ont été affectés au secteur de la transformation, à l'infrastructure et à l'aquiculture. Les derniers 80 000 $ du programme seront dépensés en 1985-1986.
