This set was first produced by the Royal Canadian Mint in 1953. From 1954 to 1971, the Mint named it the "Uncirculated" Set, and then, from 1971 to 1981, renamed it the "Regular" Set. Since 1981, this type of set has been known once again as the Uncirculated Set.

La première série «spéciale» fut produite par la Monnaie royale canadienne en 1953; on dirait aujourd'hui «ensemble (de qualité) "spéciale"». Entre 1954 et 1971, elle la nomma série «hors-circulation», puis, entre 1971 et 1981, série «régulière». Depuis 1981, la Monnaie offre sous le nom d'«ensemble hors-circulation» les six pièces de la série courante.
