SPEECH ENCODING [3 records]

Record 1 - external organization data 2014-09-05

English

Subject field(s)
  • Compartment - ISO/IEC JTC 1 Information Technology Vocabulary
Universal entry(ies)
29.01.23 (2382)
ISO/IEC standard entry number
DEF

conversion of a digitized speech signal to a sequence of discrete data elements according to a set of rules that allows for reasonable reconstruction of the speech signal

OBS

Speech digitizing may be associated with an encoding for speech compression. The term "speech coding" is then often used for the combined operation.

OBS

speech coding; speech encoding; speech waveform coding: terms and definition standardized by ISO/IEC [ISO/IEC 2382-29:1999].

French

Domaine(s)
  • Tiroir - ISO/CEI JTC 1 Vocabulaire des technologies de l'information
Entrée(s) universelle(s)
29.01.23 (2382)
ISO/IEC standard entry number
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Control Systems (Electronic Instrumentation)
  • Applications of Automation
  • Artificial Intelligence
DEF

Conversion of a digitized voice signal into a succession of discrete data elements according to a set of rules that allow for recovery of the signal (ISO/CEI, 2382-29, 1996).

CONT

Waveform coding synthesizers are a straight forward match of the task requirements to the available storage technology. Efforts have been made to decrease the number of bits per time for digital storage. Techniques used include simple data modulation, adaptive delta modulation, adaptive differential pulse code modulation and adaptive predictive coding.

OBS

See: (ISO/IEC, JTC1/SC1, N1730, 1995).

Key term(s)
  • waveform coding synthesizer
