D'après les renseignements communiqués par le client, ce terme désignerait un appareil permettant d'appliquer un herbicide, probablement en traitement localisé («spot»). Toutefois, selon les experts consultés, (Faculté de foresterie de l'Université Laval) (ministère de l'Agriculture du Québec), il s'agirait plutôt d'un appareil servant à marquer les arbres devant être abattus ou traités. Dans le premier cas, on utilise les termes «lance» [de traitement localisé] ou, familièrement, «fusil»; dans le second cas, on emploie «fusil à marteler».
