Once a term is approved, the related terminological information is entered into TERMIUM and distributed in the form of a recommendation. After a period of public consultation lasting approximately one year, a Standardization notice may be issued.

Outre qu'ils seront versés dans TERMIUM, les termes normalisés seront diffusés sous forme d'avis de normalisation ou de recommandation. Chaque avis devra donner un énoncé succinct du problème terminologique ou linguistique, ainsi que celui des solutions proposées. Devront également y figurer l'exposé de la démarche suivie et la liste des sources consultées. Chaque avis ne devra porter que sur un seul cas et tenir sur une seule feuille.
