Registering your child's birth is the first step to giving your baby a legal identity. Once your baby's birth is registered, you will be able to apply for a birth certificate. You will receive a form called a Statement of Live Birth from the hospital for you to fill out. It is your child's permanent record. It is important that the information is accurate and legible, as this is your child's legal record.
