The vein that continues the axillary as the main venous stem of the upper member, follows the subclavian artery, and joins with the internal jugular vein to form the brachio-cephalic vein.

CONT

The subclavian vein, running medially into the brachio-cephalic vein, lies lateral to and then below the scalenus anterior. Medial to the scalenus anterior, in front of the first part of the subclavian artery, the vein has been joined by the internal jugular vein and is thence called the brachio-cephalic vein.
