sunshading: Controlling the entry of the sun into a building by means of louvres, projecting eaves, projecting balconies or vertical slats. Sunshading devices are prominent features on the facade of the building, and their visual aspect must therefore be considered as well as their technical efficiency.

OBS

"Brise-soleil" generally implies screens, horizontal or vertical projections which serve a decorative purpose, even if under a functional disguise. The term is rarely used for projection balconies or unobtrusive louvres.
