Opération qui consiste, sur une surface métallique usinée jusqu'au fini (rectification), à faire disparaître la couche superficielle de métal amorphe décarburé résultant de l'action de l'outil.

CONT

La superfinition est généralement obtenue par l'action de pierres abrasives appuyant avec une pression déterminée sur la surface à traiter et animées par rapport à celle-ci de mouvements relatifs permettant à chaque point de cette surface de subir la même abrasion. Elle réduit presque totalement les aspérités.
