Données «graphiques» et représentation vectorielle. Par opposition aux données images, les données graphiques sont généralement considérées comme des données riches mais complexes. On a coutume de distinguer trois types de données graphiques : - les données représentées par des points isolés ou par des ensembles de points, et qui permettent de modéliser des objets ponctuels, - les données représentées par des lignes isolées ou par des réseaux, et qui permettent de modéliser des objets linéaires, - les données représentées par des surfaces isolées ou par des mosaïques, et qui permettent de modéliser des objets surfaciques.
