Hydrogels of crosslinked homopolymers and copolymers will be prepared and tested. Three unique cases will be examined: cohesion between two identical polymers; adhesion between two different polymers; and especially mucoadhesion between a synthetic hydrogel and the mucus coating of a biological tissue.

Le polymère biocompatible que le chercheur a découvert, et dont la structure exacte est brevetée, possède des propriétés physiques identiques à celles de la moëlle : il a entre autres les mêmes caractéristiques de viscoélasticité. C'est un hydrogel synthétique proche des matériaux utilisés pour les lentilles cornéennes.

OBS

Gel capable d'aider les deux bouts d'une moëlle épinière sectionnée à se reconnecter. On étudie également le potentiel de l'hydrogel pour la regénération d'autres tissus du système nerveux, tel que le centre de la mémoire, le nerf optique et certains nerfs périphériques.
