Taylor rules are simple monetary policy rules that prescribe how a central bank should adjust its interest rate policy instrument in a systematic manner in response to developments in inflation and macroeconomic activity.

La règle de Taylor a pour ambition de définir une ligne de conduite qui s'impose aux autorités monétaires. Elle se fonde sur le calcul d'un taux d'intérêt de court terme, supposé «optimal», compatible avec l'objectif d'inflation de la banque centrale et l'évolution de «l'écart de production».
