THERMAL IONIZATION [2 records]

Record 1 1998-05-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Analytical Chemistry
DEF

Ionization of an atom or molecule when it interacts with a heated surface or is in a gaseous environment at high temperatures.

OBS

... chemiionization differs from thermal ionization in that product molecules retain the energy released by strong exothermic reactions which lead to ionization. Based on their evidence derived from flame ionization detector studies, Sternberg et al. strongly support the hypothesis of chemiionization as the source of flame ionization.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Chimie analytique
DEF

Key term(s)
  • ionisation thermogène

Record 2 1989-11-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Physics of Solids
CONT

... the term thermal ionization ... is generally used in the context of heating certain complex compounds, resulting in positive-ion emission.... The sample to be ionized is usually mixed with silica gel and phosphoric acid and deposited on a rhenium filament ... the filament is introduced into the ion source and heated to the point of positive-ion emission.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique des solides
CONT
