Thermo-man: This instrumented mannequin system, interfaced with a computer, allows full-scale testing of garments for protection capability or degree of flammability. The system was developed by Accurex Corporation for U.S. Air Force.

Barriers Proline are designed starting from fibres thermostable aramides of high technicality. Their effectiveness was shown by tests carried out on mannequin RALPH of (British Textile technology Group) and on the Thermo-Man of Dupont de Nemours. These tests consist in evaluating the level of effectiveness of clothing when it is subjected to a flame from approximately 1 000 degrees C during 8 seconds.

Thermo-man : Mannequin comportant des appareils de mesure (capteurs de chaleur qui mesurent les brûlures) relié à un ordinateur permettant d'effectuer des essais en grandeur réelle sur les vêtements pour évaluer leur niveau de protection thermique ou leur degré d'inflammabilité. En laboratoire, pour faire des essais sur les vêtements, le mannequin thermo-man (qui est en grandeur réelle) est habillé (d'une veste de sapeur-pompier par exemple), ensuite le feu est mis au vêtement porté par le mannequin. Les données prises par les capteurs de chaleur sur Thermo-man en feu sont alors analysées pour déterminer la capacité de protection thermique ou le degré d'inflammabilité du vêtement.
