Dans les minerais, le dosage radiométrique de l’uranium total est effectué par la méthode Thommeret. Il s’agit d’une méthode par différence où les émissions β et [gamma] de l’échantillon sont comparées à celles d’étalons, en considérant que le rayonnement [gamma] est pratiquement dû aux seuls descendants du radium. Les mesures sont faites au moyen d’un compteur type Geiger-Muller.
