Si le besoin à rencontrer est l'inscription d'un texte en surimpression sur une image ou sur une séquence-vidéo, on pourra se tourner vers les logiciels de titrage, dont PC-Titler, de Maze Technology, est un bon exemple. PC-Titler permet d'importer du texte ASCII, de le transformer suivant une vingtaine de fontes originales et de le positionner sur l'image en lui donnant les attributs habituels (gras, souligné, ombré, contour) en différentes couleurs avec, si on le désire, un effet de défilement vertical ou horizontal.
