the Technical and Office Protocol (TOP) promoted by Boeing, is an attempt to build bockwards from MAP standardisation on the factory floor into the office; it will do this by standardising communications with the design and engineering computers that are closest to the manufacturing process.

Machines communicating on the TOP standard were shown together with the MAP machines that GM demonstrated earlier this month.
