A class of highly absorbent paper with fairly good strength properties. It is made from chemical and mechanical pulps especially for industrial, domestic, and institutional wiping purposes. The converted product is known as paper towels.

Il est parfois traité avec des résines de résistance à l'état humide pour éviter qu'il ne se désintègre une fois mouillé.
