A class of highly absorbent paper with fairly good strength properties. It is made from chemical and mechanical pulps especially for industrial, domestic, and institutional wiping purposes. The converted product is known as paper towels.

Ce papier doit posséder un grand pouvoir d'absorption des graisses et de rétention de l'eau. Il est parfois traité avec des résines de résistance à l'état humide pour éviter qu'il ne se désintègre une fois mouillé.
