Pour perfectionner l'affût Rheinmetall, le groupe [...] lança en 1978 l'étude d'une conduite de tir destinée à remplacer la conduite de tir Galileo. Elle aboutit au bloc de pointage de Thomson-Sagem-GIAT (BPTSG) développé dans le cadre de l'article 90. Ce système de conduite de tir comportait un télémètre laser, un viseur gyrostabilisé, un calculateur digital et un asservissement de puissance électrique.
