Components in a transportation system are infrastructure, vehicles, equipment and regulations.

A railroad system is an example of a transport system as it comprises tracks, locomotives, rail cars, signals, bridges, tunnels, maintenance shops and offices, connected together to move freight and passengers efficiently.
