Submerged diffusers and tremie tubes. The main purpose of diffusers and tremie tubes is to decrease discharge velocity and turbulence of open-water disposal of material removed with a hydraulic dredge.

When environmental conditions so warrant, special measures may be taken: a tremie tube may be used; a diffuser may be fitted to the end of the pipeline; or a skirt or barrier may be installed.

Diffuseur submergé, déflecteurs ou tubes à trémie. Les diffuseurs, les déflecteurs, de type radial ou autre, ou les tubes à trémie ont pour but principal de réduire la vitesse et la turbulence associées au rejet en eaux libres des matériaux extraits par une drague hydraulique.

Lorsque les conditions du milieu le justifient, le rejet en eaux libres peut également faire l'objet de mesures particulières telles l'utilisation d'un tube à trémie ou d'un diffuseur adapté à l'extrémité du pipeline ou encore l'utilisation de jupes ou d'écrans de protection.
