Los tubos se unen a la placa tubular acanalando los orificios y acampanando en su interior los extremos de los tubos mediante un mandril cónico rotatorio que fuerza al metal del tubo más allá de su límite elástico, de forma que el metal se introduce en las acanaladuras; en los intercambiadores que van a trabajar a presiones elevadas, los tubos se sueldan a la placa tubular.
