Le phénomène d’Uhthoff peut être provoqué par l’exposition au soleil, l’effort, la prise d’un bain chaud, l’émotion, la fatigue ou tout autre facteur susceptible d’élever la température centrale, et peut déclencher n’importe quel symptôme de la SP [sclérose en plaques]. À titre d’exemple, il arrive très souvent que la vision des personnes atteintes de SP se trouble après l’effort.
