The Old Roman Tile is also referred to as a Basilican tile. It is rather like the Spanish tile, but whereas the under Spanish tile is semicircular in shape, the under tile in the old Roman is flat and also wider.

L'aspect d'une tuile canal est celui d'une gouttière d'allure tronconique. Le même élément permet de réaliser la totalité de la couverture, à la fois tuile de "courant" (tuile de dessous) et tuile de "couvert" (tuile de dessus).

OBS

Dans les sources de référence consultées le terme "tuile de courant" ne s'emploie que pour désigner les tuiles canal servant de tuiles de dessous.
