OBS

The UDP began in 1977 to reduce personnel turbulence and increase combat readiness of WestPac units. Eventually every combat unit in WestPac entered the program. These units deploy every 18 months from CONUS to WestPac for a 6-month period. Since its implementation, the UDP has strengthened unit cohesion, enchanced continuity of training, and increased the manning levels for all combat units in the Marine Corps.
