OBS

ONUSAL was established on 20 May 1991 to support El Salvador's process of ending 12 years of civil war. To do so, the mission started an educational program and an information campaign on human rights. Also, ONUSAL was tasked to investigate human rights violations. ONUSAL's mandate was later enlarged and in addition to the Human Rights Division, a Military and a Police Division were formed.
