Canadian Rural Partnership, Pilot Projects 2000-2001. New Brunswick. Federal Partners: Environment Canada; Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Canada. This project will provide technical information on rockweed, a form of algae, to a working group of federal,provincial and municipal representatives, with the aim of expanding the harvest of this resource in New Brunswick. Information gathered will be used to assess potential impacts of the rockweed harvest on marine habitat, and to determine the harvest level at which significant environmental changes can be measured.

Projets pilotes 2000-2001 du Partenariat rural canadien. Nouveau-Brunswick, partenaires fédéraux : Environnement Canada; ministère des Pêches et des Océans, Canada. Ce projet donnera de l'information technique sur le goémon, une forme d'algue, à un groupe de travail constitué de représentants fédéraux, provinciaux et municipaux, dans le dessein d'étendre l'exploitation de cette ressource au Nouveau-Brunswick. Les données recueillies serviront à évaluer les effets possibles de l'exploitation du goémon sur l'habitat marin et à déterminer le degré d'exploitation auquel des changements environnementaux appréciables deviendront mesurables.
