scintigraphie pulmonaire de ventilation. L'étude de la ventilation est réalisée à l'aide de gaz rares radioactifs. Le plus utilisé actuellement est le xénon. Ce gaz, pratiquement insoluble, ne traverse pas la membrane alvéocapillaire et, lorsqu'il est respiré, reste donc dans les alvéoles. L'inhalation d'un mélange gazeux homogène radioactif permet d'explorer la répartition de l'air dans les deux poumons et de calculer les différents volumes pulmonaires en inspiration et en expiration, forcées ou non.
