Les terrasses d'absorption [...] sont utilisées dans les régions où la précipitation est faible. Elles n'ont pas de voies d'écoulement. Les digues ou billons sont construits de sorte que l'eau reste emprisonnée et doit s'infiltrer dans le sol, de là vient leur nom. Ces terrasses sont généralement construites sur des terrains dont la pente n'excède pas 3 pour cent. Le billon doit être assez élevé pour bien retenir l'eau qui tombe.
