Le régime est dit «humide» quand le compresseur aspire la vapeur humide; en d'autres termes quand le tracé de la courbe de compression relevée par l'indicateur de Watt correspond à la compression adiabatique de vapeurs humides (d'où la désignation anglo-américaine «Wet compression»). Il semblerait a priori que le fonctionnement du compresseur en régime humide devrait être particulièrement recherché.
