Telecommunication closets ... differ from equipment rooms and entrance facilities in that they are generally considered to be floor-serving (as opposed to building-serving) facilities that provide a connection point between backbone and horizontal distribution pathways. [They are used] for housing: voice equipment (e.g., KSUs, etc.), data equipment (routers, concentrators, etc.), cable terminations (both horizontal and backbone), fiber optic terminations (both horizontal and backbone) [and] cross-connect wiring.
