An inflammatory process involving the plantar fascia characterized by pain under the heel on walking, sometimes due to trauma or associated with ankylosing spondylitis, Reiter's disease and calcaneal spurs.

[...] inflammation de l'aponévrose plantaire à son origine, soit au bord antéro-inférieur de la tubérosité calcanéenne. Le malade accuse une talalgie, aggravée par la marche, et l'examen révèle une sensibilité bien précise au talon. [...] La talalgie est habituellement secondaire à un surmenage de l'arrière-pied ou à un trouble de la statique du pied, mais elle peut aussi être une manifestation d'une arthropathie inflammatoire (spondylite ankylosante, goutte). La radiographie montre, à l'occasion, une petite exostose calcanéenne (épine de Lenoir).
