Également appelée «cheju» ou «ceycwu», cette langue, dont les locuteurs constituent 5 à 10 000 habitants de l'île de Jeju dans la République de Corée, se trouve aujourd’hui dans une situation critique puisqu'elle est majoritairement parlée par des personnes âgées de plus de 70 ans.
