Utilisation. Le brome est employé à la fabrication de bromures métalliques, comme le bromure d’argent, utilisé en photographie, et le bromure de potassium, sédatif du système nerveux. Il sert aussi à l'obtention de dérivés organiques bromés, employés comme produits thérapeutiques, substances lacrymogènes, matières colorantes.
