Grosse Île and the Irish Memorial National Historic Site commemorates three significant aspects of our history: first, the importance of immigration to Canada, particularly through Quebec City, from the early 19th century until World War I; Second the tragedies of Irish immigrants, especially due to the 1847 typhus epidemic; and finally Grosse Île's role from 1832 to 1937 as a quarantine station for the Port of Quebec, long the main point of arrival for immigrants coming to Canada. 1, record 1, English, - Grosse%2D%C3%8Ele%20and%20the%20Irish%20Memorial%20National%20Historic%20Site

1, record 1, French, - Lieu%20historique%20national%20de%20la%20Grosse%2D%C3%8Ele%2Det%2Dle%2DM%C3%A9morial%2Ddes%2DIrlandais

At Previous meetings of the International Network for Cultural Diversity, members have agreed that a key objective is to work for the implementation of a new Convention to provide a permanent legal foundation for government measures that promote cultural diversity. Importantly, the Convention would need to ensure that disputes between states about trade in cultural goods and services would be dealt with under its terms, rather than the trade agreements administrated by the World Trade Organization. 1, record 2, English, - Convention%20on%20Cultural%20Diversity

3, record 3, French, - barri%C3%A8re%20g%C3%A9ochimique
