OBS

Sur une lame ou dans un tube, une goutte de l'échantillon est mise en contact avec une goutte de réactif constitué d'anticorps adsorbés sur des particules de latex. Ces dernières amplifient l'agglutination des germes par les anticorps jusqu'à un niveau macroscopique (formation de «flocons» en une ou deux minutes). Aucun appareil de lecture n'est alors requis.
