Antibody to the Rh group of antigens found on human erythrocytes. Anti Rh antibodies may be synthesized either by a Rh+ mother with an Rh- fetus or an Rh+ patient who receives a transfusion of Rh- blood. Agglutinating anti-Rh antibodies are of IgM class. IgG anti-Rh antibodies can cross the placenta and cause hemolytic disease of the newborn.

[...] Il n'existe pas d'anticorps naturels anti-Rhésus. Les anticorps anti-Rhésus apparaissent après une grossesse ou une transfusion incompatible; ils ont presque toujours de classe IgG. [...] ces anticorps sont improprement appelés "incomplets" par opposition aux IgM anti-Rhésus qui sont agglutinantes (anticorps complets).
