En général, on visse une bande métallique pour assurer la jonction entre la moquette et le revêtement de la pièce voisine (ou entre deux moquettes). Les bandes de seuil sont vendues à la longueur et peuvent être coupées à la scie à métaux. On les visse dans le parquet avec des vis à bois, ou dans une chape après perçage et chevillage.
