La capsule comporte une coiffe métallique, généralement en acier inoxydable, qui recouvre une cartouche en plastique, le bidule. Le bidule permet de recueillir le dépôt issu du remuage. Il est expulsé avec celui-ci grâce à la pression contenue dans la bouteille lors du dégorgement.
