bionomie : Selon le Grand dict. encycl. Larousse, ce terme est un synonyme vieilli de «écologie». Le Vocabulaire d'écologie, de Philippe de Daget, le définit comme la «Science des lois de la vie en rapport avec le milieu, [qui] se subdivise en écologie et éthologie et [qui] forme, avec la biogéographie, la périlogie», ce qui en fait un générique par rapport à «écologie». Enfin, le «Dictionnaire de l'océan» du CILF (Conseil international de la a langue française) le définit comme l'«Étude descriptive des peuplements dans un milieu donné dans le but de les identifier et de les classer [le plus souvent pour la réalisation] de cartes de peuplements benthiques», ce qui en fait un spécifique.
