El nombre arándano rojo (en inglés cranberry) hace referencia a un grupo de arbustos enanos perennes del género Vaccinium, subgénero Oxycoccus, aunque algunos botánicos consideran Oxycoccus un género aparte. […] Vaccinium microcarpum u Oxycoccus microcarpus (arándano rojo pequeño), que se da en el norte de Europa y en el norte de Asia, y difiere del anterior en que las hojas son más triangulares, y los tallos de las flores no tienen vellosidad. Algunos botánicos lo incluyen en Vaccinium Oxycoccus.
