Un composite à matrice organique est composé d'une matrice polymère et d'un renfort pouvant se présenter sous forme de : particules, mats, fibres courtes, longues ou continues... Renforts les plus courants : les fibres. La matrice polymère peut être thermodurcissable (TD, durcit à la chaleur) ou thermoplastique (TP, fond à la chaleur).
