À notre avis, le terme anglais «breading up» se rapporte à l'opération de concassage (de roc, de béton), c'est-à-dire à la réduction de blocs en fragments de dimensions plus petites, à la comminution en particules relativement grosses (en anglais : «crushing» et parfois le terme très semblable «breaking up»). Dans les textes anglais on le voit très souvent associé à l'action des marteaux hydrauliques, et en français les marteaux hydrauliques sont associés au concassage.
