He keeps a record of the laps covered by each competitor in races from 1500 metres to 5000 metres. For races exceeding 5000 metres a number of lap scorers under the direction of the Referee are appointed and provided with lap scoring cards on which they record the times over each lap (as given to them by an official Timekeeper) of the competitors for whom they are responsible.

Il tient le compte du nombre de tours accomplis par chaque concurrent dans les courses de 1500 mètres à 500 mètres. Pour les courses au-dessus de 5000 mètres, on désigne plusieurs compteurs de tours, placés sous les ordres du juge-arbitre, qui sont munis de tableaux de contrôle des tours sur lesquels ils inscrivent les temps (annoncés par un chronométreur officiel), réalisés sur chaque tour par les concurrents dont ils ont le contrôle.
