Front desk managers are primarily employed in the hospitality industry, where they oversee the operations of the front [or reception] desk at a hotel or similar establishment. The person in this position manages front desk clerks, schedules employees and handles employee issues before they escalate to upper management. Managers are expected to handle guest complaints and train front desk staff. A front desk manager also compiles reports for management, including occupancy reports and financial information. In some instances, the front desk manager also serves as a night auditor, collecting and reconciling receipts generated throughout the day.
