En dessin d'architecture et de bâtiment, l'élévation est la projection de la façade - sans que celle-ci soit spécialement façade principale - sur un plan vertical extérieur. Il est le plus souvent nécessaire de représenter plusieurs élévations du bâtiment (une pour chaque façade), afin de donner une description complète de l'ensemble. On appelle également ces élévations «plans relevés». Une certaine confusion règne autour des termes «élévation» et «façade»; pour certains «élévation» désigne les dessins en élévation autant des murs intérieurs qu'extérieurs alors que pour d'autres «élévation» est synonyme de «façade» et ne désigne alors que les murs extérieurs vus en élévation.
