Sound Recording Survey. The number of singles sold fell to 1.8 million, but the value of sales increased by 11 % to $5.9 million. This may be the result of a switch from single cassettes to single CDs which have a higher unit price. Sales of vinyl albums continued their decline into obscurity with only 300,000 units sold at a value of $2.2 million. Sales of digital cassettes, while an effort was made to introduce them to the market, were not reported in any significant amount.

OBS
