Garantie collective, conjointe, individuelle. Expressions employées lorsque la garantie est donnée par plusieurs États en vue de préciser la portée de l'obligation de chacun. La première, employée dans l'article 2 du traité de Londres du 11 mai 1867 qui place la neutralité du Luxembourg "sous la sanction de la garantie collective des Puissances signataires", a donné lieu à des doutes sur sa portée. Pour éviter l'interprétation selon laquelle la garantie collective ne jouerait que si tous les États garants participent à son exercice, on lui a préféré parfois les expressions : garantie conjointe et individuelle, garantie individuelle et collective, entendues comme signifiant qu'en principe l'action des garants doit être commune, mais que la défaillance de quelques-uns ne fait pas disparaître l'obligation des autres. 1, record 1, French, - garantie%20collective
